We will spend the remainder of the weekend recording more new material with James Robertson who co-wrote Enough Of This!

We regret that the show on Jan 20th in Ottawa has been cancelled due to venue closure. The show has been rescheduled to February 28th at Zaphod Beeblebrox in the Byward Market! We will be sharing the Stage with RIKERS, Pretty Young Thing and Arms of the Girl!

Matt, Jay and Josh recorded an acoustic version of Complicating Matters back in the summer of 2009 during the Pictures On Silence sessions. What’s to come for 2012?

Hearts&Mines kicks of the year at the LiVE Lounge on January 20th with a few surprises. We will be hosting RIKERS and are looking forward to giving them a warm welcome!

Dan Martelock has been hard at work on new merch, so stay tuned for new designs!

A music video is in the works with Tom Shock!

Also, we will be continuing to work on our new EP and plan to work with various producers which may include Jordon Zadorozny, Mike Langford, Eric Eggelston and James Robertson. We are very excited about the new material and can’t wait to give you a first listen. If you can’t wait, make sure you check out a show this year! Speaking of shows, we are currently planning a Canadian tour, which may find us in your hometown this spring/summer/fall! Want to make sure we are planning to come? So here we are up in the beautiful Ottawa Valley at French Kiss to track and produce “Panic” and “Chasing Dreams” and to work on some more new material. It’s nice to be back working with Jordon Zadorozny.

Yesterday, Matt started the day on scratch tracks for guitars and vocals. Jay dropped in the drum tracks in no time. With us having worked on these songs over the last two months in preparation of the Big Money Shot, Jay finished up quickly. Next we started working on a little acoustic secret that you will all find out about soon! We finished up the day with Rob who dropped in the bass and baritone tracks. The mixes are sounding incredible!

Today Jordon, Jay and Matt had a writing session and have started working on a song which is tentatively titled “Fast Times.” We recorded a demo today and who knows, we might just give it a trial at the next show…

Tonight, Michael’s is in to record strings, keys and synths. Tomorrow it’s all vocals, and we can’t wait.

This Friday, catch Matt and Rob for an acoustic performance at Club Saw at the Arts Court in Ottawa. Head down for 8pm.

We are incredibly honoured, proud and excited to announce that we are the first runners-up in the 2011 LIVE 88.5FM BIG MONEY SHOT and recipients of $40,000 of development funds! We are also excited to announce our very good friends, The Love Machine, took the grand prize and walked away with $50K! As you know, the grand finals took place Friday, November 18th at St. Brigid’s in Ottawa, ans what a great night it was! Shawn Scallen and Eric Wehrle ran a flawless night and Wall Sound did an amazing job on light and sound. We’d like to thank Bryan Ruckstuhl for tracking the entire night for your future enjoyment! The venue was absolutely stunning inside and out! Check out some of the shots Shaughn Anderson took that night:

What an incredible night! So, what else is going on? Well, if you missed our appearance on Clarence Street Live, Tom Shock’s hilarious new show on Rogers Cable 22 Ottawa, there is a re-run at 10:30pm, Tuesday! We play some new songs acoustically and do an interview with our pal, Chelsea Miller! We had a great time doing it, and we think it’s pretty obvious!

What’s up, Toronto!? We will be down at the Rancho Relaxo, 300 College at Spadina, on December 2nd and are playing with the venerable Mother Leads and Will Conquer! It’s always a blast at the Rancho, especially when Dan Wolovick and Two-Way Monologues are putting on the show! As most of you know, last year’s LiVE 88.5 Big Money Shot made us $5,000 richer, allowed us to go on a small tour, record an album and hook you up with some great t-shirts. This year, we have already won $10,000 and on Thursday, September 8th 2011 we will be playing to double our winnings! Want to help out? Here’s what you can do:

So, here’s what we have been up to. We have been back and forth from Toronto over the last few weeks recording, doing photo shoots, getting media advice and plain old hanging out with Two Way Monologues‘ Dan Wolovick and the Rancho Relaxo‘s Adam Wagner. Great people! We recorded a song with Terry Brown who has produced Rush, Alannah Myles, The Who, MGB and many other great Canadian and international acts. We had a great time with him and Russ Mackay and we look forward to future projects with them. We spent a day at Dave Beatty’s studio (Fefe Dobson, Nelly Furtado). Our photos turned out great and we look forward to sharing them with you! We made great friends and contacts and are super excited about what the future has in store for us!

This contest has done wonders for us and the Ottawa music scene. We are so grateful for everything we have been offered, given and for all of which we have worked so hard. We have found great friends in all the bands, especially The Love Machine and Liam Lloyd. Please, support all local music and check them out!
